Jeff Howard shares his insight on factors he considered when researching and developing HYDRA-STAT ….
HYDRA-STAT is a product I have been working on for about 3 years. Many show animals – steers, heifers, lambs, goats and barrows are dehydrated at the shows. The stress and negative effects of dehydration include hardness, dry/brittle skin and tight or popping joints.  While researching the effects of stress caused by dehydration, I found there was not a lot of information on show animal hydration.  I then began researching how human athletes, especially marathon runners, cyclists and triathletes stay hydrated and started learning about their diets and the ingredients that are part of their daily hydration regimen. My research identified key ingredients to be used in the development of HYDRA-STAT. Christopher Dalton with SHOW-BIOTICS assisted with the final formulation.

 

PURPOSE

HYDRA-STAT is a show day cellular hydration formula for all species of livestock.  It is not a supplement, but a hydration product used the day prior to and the day of the show for cattle.  Sheep, goats and hogs begin three days prior to and the day of the show. HYDRA-STAT is made of all-natural products and contains no added salt or sugar. HYDRA-STAT works to hydrate the muscles and skin, while still maintaining a smooth, fresh look and feel without getting overly firm. HYDRA-STAT helps reduce the negative effects of stress and dehydration. MOST IMPORTANTLY, HYDRA-STAT increases hydration within the cell throughout all body tissues – allowing your animal to look and feel their best.

What animals can benefit from HYDRA-STAT?
HYDRA-STAT has been tested with market and breeding animals including cattle, sheep, goats and hogs.

What dosage forms are available for HYDRA-STAT?
HYDRA-STAT is available in two dosage forms: powder and paste.  The powder is used as a drench administration.  Easy to use paste was developed for shows that do not allow drenching or for exhibitors that prefer a paste administration.

Are HYDRA-STAT powder and paste the same?
Yes.  Powder and paste use the same natural ingredients with no added sugar or salt.

How far out from show time do I start my animals on HYDRA-STAT?
Directions are available on each bottle and tube.

The recommended regimen is as follows: 

  • Cattle begin HYDRA-STAT the day before the show.
  • Sheep, Goats and Hogs begin HYDRA-STAT three days before the show.

How much water do I mix with the powder?
Directions are available on each powder bottle. 

Cattle customers use one bottle of powder to 600 ml of water. 

Sheep, goat and hog customers use 60 ml of water per half bottle of powder.

 

How many HYDRA-STAT paste tubes do I use with my animals?
Directions are available on each tube. 

Cattle paste tubes are 80 ml and recommended regimen is 5 total tubes – 1 tube morning before show, 1 tube evening before show, 1 tube three hours before show, 1 tube two hours before show and 1 tube one hour before show.

Sheep, goat and hog tubes are 36 ml and recommended regimen is 6 tubes – 1 tube for three days before show, 1 tube two days before show, 1 tube one day before show, 1 tube three hours before show, 1 tube two hours before show and 1 tube thirty minutes before show.

 

Do I still water my animals when using HYDRA-STAT?
Yes.  Exhibitors will continue with their regular show watering regimen when using HYDRA-STAT.
